The State Seed Department is the official, designated authority for seed regulatory issues in North Dakota. As a member of the Association of American Seed Control Officials (AASCO), the Seed Department regulates the labeling, sale and transport of agricultural, vegetable, flower, tree and shrub seed.

Individuals and businesses that label and market seed need to understand seed laws to ensure compliance with regulations. The Federal Seed Act covers seeds in interstate commerce, while state laws regulate intrastate commerce.

In this section, you will find information on state seed laws as well as the administrative rules for the department, and useful information about the Regulatory Program.
